The course will also investigate the multiple worlds adolescents navigate, including the influence and importance of peers, friendships, and social media. It will address how students develop mathematical understanding and how different groups experience mathematics instruction. The course will cover methods for teaching the scientific method, conducting inquiry-based laboratory work, and exploring the relationship between science, technology, and society. Additionally, it will discuss the use of technology in teaching specific areas of science (life, physical, earth) as well as in an integrated science approach.

This course will explore adolescent literature in its various formats, with attention given to writing across the curriculum and teaching students to write for different subject areas. It will address how students comprehend content material, the socio-cultural influences on reading, and the relationships between reading and writing. The course will cover the assessment of content reading and methods for teaching students to critically read and create media. Additionally, research on writing and its implications for teaching methods, as well as responding to and evaluating student writing, will be explored.
